Do's & Don'ts

Upon separation, parents are encouraged to discuss arrangements concerning the children of the family.

Sadly, it is not always possible.  In such cases we are able to assist, initially with negotiations or if required an application to the Court.

An application to the Court does not have to be seen as a hostile step, as the court can provide a safe environment upon cases can be resolved and progress can be made, particularly for issues such as contact.

In the event of an application being made to the Court, the Court are assisted by Children and Family Court Advisory and Support Service known as ‘CAFCASS’.

CAFCASS officers intervene in such matters from the outset and initially will assist the parties with trying to resolve any outstanding issues, and thereafter will if required to do so, prepare a report and assist the Court with a recommendation.
