Do's & Don'ts

A Civil Partnership is a marriage, if not in name, and although there may not be any religious significance, a civil partnership provides the legal rights synonymous with a marriage, to a same sex couple.

The Civil Partnership Act 2004 came into effect in December 2005.

Sadly, if a Civil Partnership does not succeed then dissolution is required to end the partnership, which is by all intent and purposes the same as a divorce.

The procedure is the same as for a Divorce (see Divorce & Separation) although adultery cannot be relied upon as a ground for dissolution of a Civil Partnership.

What you need to do.

If you are part of a Civil Partnership and looking to dissolve the relationship, please call Marcus Malin on 0121 633 3233, or drop into our evening session every Monday at the Wharf to find out exactly where you stand and how we can help you.
